Gyriq Privacy Policy

Gyriq is a voice-first AI running coach. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. We built Gyriq to store the minimum data needed to coach you well — and to give you full control to export or delete everything at any time.

1. What we collect and why
Health & fitness data
We read the following from Apple Health, with your permission, to coach you in real time and to power your post-run debrief: heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate, step count/cadence, walking & running distance, sleep analysis.
We also derive pace and distance during a run. This data is sent to our coaching service in anonymized form so the coach can respond to how your run is going. Health data is never sold, never shared for advertising, and never used to train AI models.
Voice audio
During the post-run debrief, the app opens your microphone so you can answer the coach out loud. Your speech is transcribed transiently and the raw audio is never stored — only the text of what you said is used to shape the conversation, and it is handled under the same anonymization rules as everything else.
Name
If you use Sign in with Apple, we store your first and last name to personalize the coach. We deliberately do not store your Apple email address.
Identifiers
We generate a random app account ID to identify your account. Your phone generates a random device ID on first install and sends it with your sign-in token, so the token cannot be used from another phone. It stays on your device and persists if you sign out. Neither is an advertising identifier, and we do not use them to track you across other apps or websites.
Location — processed on your device only
Gyriq uses your location during a run for pace, distance, and route. Your GPS coordinates stay on your device — they are not transmitted to our servers and are not stored after your session.
Motion & fitness
With your permission, Gyriq reads motion/step (cadence) data to deliver real-time coaching cues during a run.
2. Who processes your data (subprocessors)
Gyriq uses a small set of trusted service providers to run the app. They process data only to provide their service to us, under contract:

Our servers and these providers process data in the United States.

3. An extra safeguard: redaction before it ever leaves
Before any of your text reaches a third-party AI model, it passes through an on-server redaction gateway that strips names, email addresses, phone numbers, @handles, and street/location references. If redaction cannot complete for any reason, the text is not sent. This is in addition to the anonymization above.
4. What we never do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not share your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- We do not use your health data, voice, or coaching profile to train AI models.
- We do not store raw voice recordings.
- We do not store your Apple email.
5. Your rights and choices
- Export — you can download a complete copy of everything we hold about you as a JSON file, from the app's Settings screen.
- Delete — you can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen. Deletion removes your identity, profile, and session records from our database and live session store.
- Permissions — you can grant or revoke Health, Microphone, Location, and Motion access at any time in iOS Settings. Revoking a permission disables the related coaching feature but does not stop you from using the rest of the app.
If you are in the EU/UK, these satisfy your GDPR rights to access and erasure. To make any other request, contact us at privacy@gyriq.ai.
6. Data retention
We keep your profile and session records for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we erase this data. Certain append-only audit records (that a deletion was requested and carried out) are retained as required for compliance, and contain no health or voice content.
7. Children
Gyriq is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
